What cookies and local storage SleepUncovered uses, and why. We try to keep this minimal.
What we use
SleepUncovered currently uses one piece of client-side storage:
- sc-theme (local storage) — remembers your choice of dark or light mode. Stored only in your browser; not transmitted to our server.
That's it. We don't use any cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising at this time.
What we don't use
- No Google Analytics cookies, or any other cookie-based analytics.
- No advertising cookies.
- No social media tracking pixels.
- No third-party trackers.
Analytics — cookie-less
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. Plausible doesn't use cookies and doesn't collect personal data. It counts you anonymously, with no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking, and no data sold or shared.
Why no consent banner
Under UK and EU rules, consent is required only for cookies and similar storage that aren't strictly necessary — primarily analytics cookies and advertising. Theme-preference local storage is functional / strictly necessary (it lets the site work as intended) and is exempt. Plausible uses no storage at all, so it's also exempt.
If we ever add any non-essential storage, we'll add an appropriate consent banner and update this page.
How to clear it
You can clear local storage in your browser settings at any time. On most browsers: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies and other site data. The site will simply revert to dark mode by default and ask again on next visit.
Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) maintains standard server logs for operational and security purposes. These are not cookies and don't require consent under cookie law, but they're covered by our privacy policy.
